Disease is something that has touched us all in some way. Most of us are familiar with well-known diseases like cancer and diabetes because these often affect our friends, family and even ourselves.  Rare Disease Day thankfully reminds us that there are people who suffer from rare diseases that need our acknowledgment and support.    According to the Orphan Drug Act of 1983, a rare disease is classified as affecting less than 200,000 people in the United States.  The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences states that there are a total of 25-30 million Americans living with rare diseases today.  Research continues to be a driving force in determining new ways to treat and cure rare diseases. Twitter, Google and Facebook knowingly provided “support and resources” to ISIS as the terror group carried out its 2015 coordinated attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, a lawsuit charges. Hundreds of people were injured in the terror attack, including Illinois resident Mandy Palmucci, who filed the federal lawsuit in Chicago last week. Palmucci was with friends at a cafe in Paris on Nov. 13, 2015, when three ISIS terrorists approached and opened fire. Read the rest of the story here. 

Mandy Palmucci traveled to France in the fall of 2015 to run a marathon. Before returning to the United States, the Illinois woman visited Paris. And on Nov. 13, 2015, she stopped in a café with her friends, records show. That’s when three ISIS terrorists — including a man once seen on YouTube saying “it’s nice to see from time to time, the blood of infidels” — attacked. DETROIT (WJBK) – The Detroit Police Department and the city are being sued for a high-speed chase that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old and 3-year-old.  An attorney for the family of 3-year-old Mikaya and 6-year-old Michaelango Jackson filed the lawsuit in Wayne County and Federal Court, claiming the officers are responsible for the death of children in July 2015. According to the lawsuit, Detroit police officers Richard Billingslea, Steven Fultz and Hakeem Patterson chased a car that was traveling over 100 MPH through a residential neighborhood.  The Camaro lost control at the corner of Frankfort and Nottingham and hit five children, killing the two children who were playing outside.
