After serving 28 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Bernard Young sat in a courtroom Wednesday wearing a silver cross as a symbol of his faith, beaming as he heard the words he has long waited to hear: Your case is dismissed. COLDWATER, Mich. (AP) — A woman alleges police in southern Michigan slammed her onto the ground and knocked her unconscious while handcuffed at a jail in an incident captured on video. Tiffany McNeil filed a lawsuit this week in U.S. District Court alleging Coldwater police used excessive force in the encounter in a secure entrance at the Branch County Jail, where she was taken after a domestic dispute. Police reports say that McNeil was resisting arrest and moved toward an officer, who then took her down. But the lawsuit says surveillance video shows police lied. A woman is suing several Coldwater, Mich. police officers after she says she was slammed to the ground and knocked unconscious while handcuffed in a secure entrance to the county jail, a bloody incident captured on camera. Tiffany McNeil’s federal lawsuit alleges that police used excessive force and then lied about what happened. “It was absolutely egregious, disgusting, thug-like conduct,” McNeil’s attorney, Solomon Radner, said. “You don’t expect that from police officers, and it shouldn’t be tolerated.”   Read the rest of the story here. 

SOUTHFIELD, MI—The Coldwater, Michigan police department and the City are being sued for the alleged physical attack of a local mother of three. The plaintiff Tiffany McNeil, a resident of Coldwater, was hospitalized for a head injury and twenty stitches to her face.  The lawsuit, case number 1:17-CV-01085, was filed in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan on Monday, December 11, 2017.
